Party On!

My eldest little man's birthday weekend was a blast. His grandparents came to help celebrate.

First things first: opening presents

What's next? Dinner at Olive Garden, of course!

"...and it's my birthday, so you know what that means...I get to drink coke!"

and back home for cake and ice cream...

Happy Birthday, Big Boy.

I hope all your dreams come true!

Mormons

What is it with Mormon girls? I mean, really! What do they have that I don't? They're so darn cute, creative and funny as heck.

Check out a few of my favorite cute little Mormon girls.

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be inspired.
You'll want to be a photographer.

The sectional wars

We need a sectional for our basement. The basement doubles as a TV room/ playroom, but I like to keep the two separate, using the couch as a divider between the two spaces. The problem is that with the space that we have there's not room for another chair or a love seat. Only a couch. When we have company, only three people can sit on the couch, and innevitably someone ends up either sitting on the floor, or else we have to break out a folding chair. A sectional is the only solution here, folks. I'm not crazy about the idea of a sectional. Mainly because the hubs would like to have one like this. Literally. The cup holders. The recliner. The remote holder. Oh, the horror. My idea of an acceptable sectional? This would be great, thank you.  Oy vey. That's a looooong stretch from where he would like to be. We must come to a compromise.

Will it be This? I hope so.
Admittedly it's not much of a compromise for me.
In fact, it looks a lot like my pic, just more functional.
He would have to give up a lot of his criteria if he consented to getting it.
Is he gonna cave?
Am I?

I guess time will tell...

...to be continued.

Favorite Things Friday!

Happy Birthday,
Cade!
You are my FAVORITE thing!

Oh, the silliness

The great thing about kids? Constant entertainment.
Never. a. dull. moment.
(I almost wrote FREE entertainment. But that's
not true. That's a lie. Kids are definitely not free.)

This little man, as naughty as he may be some days, is definitely a little piece
of sunshine to my day, especially during these cold dark winter days .

and his big brother...

Oh, my, his big brother.
We went to an ice skating birthday party
last weekend. Ice skating is
one of those things that I always thought I would teach my kids to do (growing up in TX
we didn't exactly have an abundance of ice).
Hasn't happened yet.

Awww! He looks cute, doesn't he?

Brace yourself. You're about to see what  a bad mom I am for not teaching my son how to ice skate.

He could NOT stand up. Not even 1/2 a second.

The solution?

Yes. He spent the bulk of the party being pushed around
on a folding chair
by giggling little girls.
Half his size.
One of the little girls was 4.

You can send gifts, contributions for Mommy of the Year to...

Rock ON!

I'm not even gonna lie
We've had a rough couple of days.
Chris had to work this weekend,
which always puts more stress on everyone.
The boys miss the extra attention they get from their Daddy on the weekends
...and I miss getting a little bit of a break.
(oh, yeah...and I guess it's stressful on Daddykins too...
since he's the one that has to work!) .

So, when we come away from weekends like that, it makes
us even more thankful for moments like this

that's me. =)

I guess I'll just read a book while
you people have all of the fun!

Mr. Man helping me sing

He's getting the hang of it!

Daddy getting his groove on!
(Cade in the background jumping on the couch
because he loved the song so much!)

Break it down!

Rockstar!

A much needed fun time together.
Rock on!
