Creepy Lady and her twin

 Wanna see something
a little bit
Scary?

When you look at 'er do you see what I see?

Sure she's unnaturally creepy.
(Seriously! Who would hang this on their wall?!)
But as soon as I saw her I had to have her
(and her brother, which I gave to a friend).
I was prepared to fork out $10 or more for both of them,
but I think the lady was ready to
pawn them off
on someone else...so she took $1!
Can you believe it? $.50 a piece!!!
I never get deals like that at garage sales!

I threw away the dolls...figures...whatever they were!
And used some of this:

(my new favorite color of spray paint. Seriously,
I may need an intervention to not spray paint
every inanimate object in my house this color!)

Creepy doll head with frame: $.50

Gorgeous spray paint: $2.50

Stinkin' awesome Tiffany Blue frame:
priceless.

Funky Junk's Saturday Nite Special

Beyond The Picket Fence

Shirt Transformation!

Ever have a day when you
look at the clothes in your closet and
think to yourself,
"I can't go anywhere! I have NOTHING
to wear!"

I have that moment on a
daily basis!

Rather than spending unnecessary money,
I decided to gussy-up
some of the clothes I already have.

Here's one of the transformations
I came up with:

I used to wear the yellow shirt a lot years ago when I
nannied for a family and
cleaned their house.
And believe me, the shirt reflected the fact
that it was a "cleaning" shirt.

Still, I hated to throw it away, because
it was such a nice shade of yellow.

So, here's the final product:

Now it's one of my favorite shirts!
Take a look in your closet.
What can you alter to meet your needs better?

Favorite Things Friday!

Happy Friday, Folks!
I had a sweet friend over today (hi, Tiffany!)
and was showing her my
dining room chairs.
Then it hit me.
I haven't revealed the splendor that is my
chair make-overs!

You may or may not remember
this post.
And then there was this one.

And here's the big reveal:

So, again,

A Love Story

Today I found a love.
A love like I've never known.

Have you heard of RUCHE?
You better not...because if you
knew about it and didn't tell me,
then it's over between us.
Over.
Hmph.

Oh.
You haven't heard of it?
Okay.
We're good then.
Whew!
{was that our first fight?}

Well, since I'm such a good friend,
then I'm letting you in on my
crush.
Though, I have to warn you.
If you're an Anthropologie fan, as I am,
then you're going to find a lot of things on the
RUCHE website that are going to
tempt you.
Bad.

Like what, you ask?
Oh, I don't know...maybe stuff like this:

contours of a rose purse
valedictorian ruffle top in gray

buttercup flower cap
a leaf in the wind necklace

jacqui teal indie teal ring

golden beginnings dangling earrings

teacher's pet oxford heels

Are you in Love too?

Thankfully, my feet are firmly planted {today}
and we're going full-force
with
Dave Ramsey's

I won't be buying anything right now...but if I do
in the future, it'll be because we work it
into the budget!

And that feels better than anything I could buy!

A snip here, a snip there...

Today I got a hankerin'.
I decided it was high time
for the boys to get a haircut
Who in their right mind wants to fork out $15 for
a kid's haircut though, right?

Well...
today I realized
I DO!

I cut their hair by myself.

Doesn't look too bad with lots of
hairspray or gel.

But without it...oh, my.

Bad situation.

It's well worth it to have someone else
deal with it.

After lots of blood, sweat and tears
{all mine}
I think I have finally resolved that $30 really isn't all that much
money.

Happy Friday!
Hope you've all had a good week.
My week?
Oh, thanks for asking.
Other than feeling like my head is under water
and my nose is a faucet,
I can't really complain.
Well...maybe I could complain a little
about the fact that my throat hurts and my
eyes don't want to stay open.
But overall, it really was a good week.

So.
I know you've seen today's favorite thing on here before.
That's probably because I'm kind of obsessed with it
right now!
Fer realz, yo!

What is it?
Board and Batten.
Let me demonstrate:

Here! Here!

So, remember when I told you that something
big was coming for our family?
A huge change that was going to drastically
change the way we live?

Well... we SOLD our car (hallelujah!)
We will immediately be paying off the car loan,
and will be paying CASH for our next family car.
Are we crazy?
YES.

We're doing Financial Peace University
by Dave Ramsey.
Do you know Dave?
Oh, you don't?
He is a rockstar who will transform your fianances.
He will challenge you and change the way you look at money.
He will liberate you and help you get out from
under the financial strain you find yourself in.
He will help you understand the difference between
wants and needs.

Speaking of wants and needs,
I read the coolest example of
wants vs. needs.
It involves this:

(don't you love this pic?)

Linda at

has some challenging thoughts about quality pieces, vs. cheepie
IKEA type purchases.
If you have kids (or even if you don't!)
you'll appreciate what she has to say!

Plus, she's got a lot of eye candy on her blog!

Favorite Things Friday!!!

Happy Friday, Kids!

Can I just say how happy I am that this week has come and gone?
New school for Cade,
beginning preschool for Carson,
Dr. appointment for Carson,
getting used to getting up early again...
ugh.

We made it though.
Everyone is still in one piece.

So, on to my favorite thing.

This favorite thing visits me in my sleep.
{literally. I had a glorious dream about it last night}
It won't leave me alone.
It makes me drool.
It consumes way too many of my thoughts during the day. Every. day.
This favorite thing has inspired me.

Don't you LOVE this hallway?
I'm in love with the stripes.
I love the decor and arrangement of the pictures.
I love the molding.

Karla at It's the Little Things that Make a House a Home

has the best home decor ideas.
I'm hooked.
While you're over there, check out
her amazing fireplace make-over
and her
board and batten tutorial.
{another thing that makes me drool!}

I need this hallway!
{and plan to have something similar soon}

It's my favorite thing!

BULL CORN!

While we were in Texas,
my Aunt introduced Carson to a new term.
He said something silly
{in true Carson form}
so she looked at him and said,
"Oh, Bull Corn!"

Ever since then, he's been obsessed with the saying.
It's so darn cute!
He usually says it when someone is
being silly.
He'll point at you and say,
"You Bull Corn!"

So...
the other day I served corn at dinner.
His eyes got really big and he said,
"That's BULL CORN???"

Don't you love it?!

First Day of School

Today was my 2nd grader's first day of school.

Yes.
He's wearing a jacket.
It was cold, windy and rainy here today.
Ugh.

And my Stinker-Pot 3 year old
started preschool!

Can't believe they're so big!
Let the games begin!
