Favorite Things Friday!!!

Top of the Mornin' to you.
{okay, it's not the morning, but...whatever}
So, did you watch it?
You know...
IT?

The Royal Wedding???

I TIVOed three different networks to make sure I
got all of the ins and outs.
A little over the top?
Maybe.
But there's a reason why I was so excited
about the wedding.

One of my fondest memories growing up is
this:

Okay...I was only like three when this happened,
but my oldest sister had an extreme obsession with weddings.
She had so many books on Princess Diana
and the wedding.
I remember sitting and looking at those
books for hours!

So, with the anticipation of Kate and Will's wedding,
I couldn't wait to see what her dress
 looked like.

And what did I think about the Royal dress?

Beautiful? Yes.
Classic? Yes.
Everything I hoped it would be? Eeeehhhh....

Kate has become a fashion icon!
I think she played it way too safe.
I was hoping to see something more along the lines of
This:

This....

And the train?

Well, the image of Diana's train will
always be ingrained in my mind!

it took forever to get it out of the carriage!

It.was.so.looooong.

Kate's was nice,

It really was.

But, it could have been longer, No?

I didn't even have a train on my dress...
so I guess I can't really talk!
ha!

And remember Diana's enormous
bouquet???

What WAS Kate carrying?

Can it even be classified as a bouquet?
It looked like something one of the
adorable little girls should have
been carrying.

Don't get me wrong...
I think she looked absolutely gorgeous!
How could she not?
But I still think she could have done better.

What say you?
Did you like it?
Hate it?

Hope you're having a beautiful Friday!

Favorite Things Friday!!!

Can I be real?
I mean, can I be REAL

This has been a rough week.
Nah...if I'm REALLY gonna keep it real,
I have to admit that it's been a rough
three years.

But anyway, back to this week.
We had the best start to the week.
The weather was so gorgeous and we were
outside constantly.

Then a storm rolled in.
The barometric pressure changed...
in more ways than one,
if you catch my drift.
The boys have been whiny, clingy,
foaming-at-the-mouth
little monsters this week.
{I told you I was gonna keep it real}.

Do I love my children?
Of course.
Have I liked them this week?
Not especially.
 It's.been.a.rough.week.

So, you're wondering to yourself either
one of two things.
1) Should we call CPS?
2) What does any of this have to do
with Favorite Things Friday?

Well, I'm glad you asked.
I bumped into a friend this week.
She looked equally frazzled.
Through conversation we were both so
incredibly
relieved
to learn that the other was having such a
hard Mommy week.
We both had come to a breaking point with
our kids and thrown our hands up.
We handled the stress a little differently though--
she merely told her kids that she quit,
to which her son said, "Don't quit
being my mommy!"

I chose a much more graphic way
to express to my husband my level
of frustration with the kids.
I  told him that I was
ready to donate our children to the state.
It's just easier to donate them...
that way we don't have to deal with investigators,
a long drawn-out trial and most likely jail time for
child abuse.
(relax. I'm just kidding. It wasn't
THAT bad of a week)

My friend (whose identity will remain
anonymous to protect the guilty)
said, "See...that's why I love having you as a friend.
I feel like I'm normal, rather than crazy."

Well...either that, or misery just loves company.
If she has to be miserable, at least she knows
I'm miserable too, and vice versa.

At any rate, it was great to
make a connection on such an
honest level.
Mommies have good days and BAD days.
But most of the time we
feel like we can't
let other people know that
we're struggling

Mommies, be REAL with yourselves
and with your good girlfriends.
Trust me, they've had those bad days too.
You're NOT alone.

Favorite Things Friday!!!

What UP, my Peeps?
I don't mean to startle you by actually posting
a Favorite Things Friday ON a Friday! (ha!)

I can't begin to tell you how much I
love
this favorite thing.
It's not so much because I love to
do this particular thing...
but because it's nice enough outside
that we can!
Today the boys and I went to the
zoo
with my sweet friend and her cutie.

We rode the tractor out to see
 the
farm babies
Yes.
It was a John Deere.
Then we got to sit on a  Deere
and act like they were driving it.
When he sat on it,
Carson said, "Why isn't it moving?"
I said, "We can't really drive it. It doesn't work".
That wasn't acceptable to him. He insisted on knowing
who
broke it!
I'm shocked that he didn't crawl under it and
insist that he could fix it!
Somehow I coaxed him out of the barn and
convinced him it was time to go
eat corn dogs.

It was such gorgeous day for a
fun trip to the
zoo
with friends.

My favorite thing.

{What did YOU do this beautiful Friday?}

Beautiful Day

Dear Spring,
We've missed you so much.
Even though we have a pool of
muddy water in the back yard, I let the boys
go to town today.

Yes, we still have a little bit of snow left,
but we're confident that you can
get rid of that in the next few days!

 Carson "mowed" the lawn

While Tiegan went up and down
the slide fifty or sixty times.

Yes, I had to change their clothes
three times today,
because they were
covered from head to toe in
mud, but it's a small price to pay for
them being able to enjoy the sunshine and
fresh air after being cooped up
all winter!

We took our evening walk, and the boys
ran the entire time!
Mommy and daddy soon realized that the
boys are in
WAY
better shape than we both are!

So, thank you for the beautiful day,
Spring.
Why don't you take your shoes off
and stay a while!

Things I've been meaning to do...

I've been meaning to hang this
closet door back up.
It fell down when the boys were playing in the
closet...about a month and a half ago.

I've been meaning to
get back on my Weight Watcher's
program for a week now...ever since I came back
from visiting family.
Today's my first day back on the wagon...
after gaining 6 pounds.

I've been meaning
to paint my sons' dresser
FOREVER.
Our neighbor used to work at a university,
and came home one day with some old, beat-up
sad looking dressers.
I saw the potential in it, so I said, "I'll take one!!! I'll have
it looking cute as a button in no time!".

It only took 6 years.

(I'll post the "after" later...it's pretty fabulous!)
What have YOU been meaning to do?
